The colors

The clouds trotting silently
Beyond the mountains
And the colors of spring
Luminated with the falling leaves
As they silently fall
Down the cold still air
Towards the frosty earth.

As I stand in my balcony
And gaze at this sight
And as I gaze at the emptiness
And contemplate
The time spent together
In the warm embrace in moments of love.

A silent tear runs down my cheek
As stand silently with my thoughts running free
Running silently beyond this eternal silence of spring
As I miss your presence
And wait patiently for another warm embrace
And moments of passionate love.

The kiss

Swords may not bring me down,
Nor those caustic words meant to incinerate.
A fleeting kiss of love and passion -
Would turn my flesh to dust
That withers away in the wind,
And lost in the sands of time;
Into the oblivion, and eternity!

Is this love?

My head is dizzy, though I haven't a drop in me
My emotions fly from star to star
Thousand thoughts take the same meaning
Seconds feel like eons of torment
I wake up when the world is asleep
Only to dream of that special person.

I check my e.mail though I had checked it just a while ago
I read my SMS a thousand times a day
I see her face in all the ladies I meet
And laugh like crazy without a reason
When the entire supermarket is watching.

I forget the routes though I have walked the streets a zillion times
I keep staring at the computer though my thoughts lie elsewhere
My heart carries a never ending pain for which there is no remedy
I forget my language and the elements of pure reason
And the never experienced feelings come back
Again and again, only to torment
As I succumb to this pleasant torture.

And I would like to ask,
Is this love?

Yesterday

Bhoomika Chawla, an Indian actress
Yesterday midst the crowds saw I
The pristine beauty in a young lady's eyes.
Emotions saw I leap at her glance
The glance that stole my heartbeat
For a split second of oblivion.

I could not see her eyes beyond that moment
For the fear of losing myself in those darkness
As I fought to withhold my feelings
Felt I a tide of foreboding that took me in its grasp
A foreboding that I could not resist.

I succumbed to the leaping waves of emotions
And waited for that last fleeting glance
The glance did not come and my agony grew
In leaps and bounds beyond my control
As I saw myself succumb to the lady's charms.

I waited for those painful eons
For that one last glance
Or that one fugacious smile
None did I see as my eyes never left
That eternal beauty, which I have now come to witness.

No words of passion expressed
No hints of zeal crossed borders
No acknowledgment of my presence appraised
No inkling of my delight transpired
As I doted upon her as the charms took hold.

As I turned to leave saw I a fury in those eyes
Those dark, beautiful, longing eyes!
And in that fleeting moment of cognizance
Did I see the wild fury and rage in her eyes
And no words were expressed in the silent drama.

As I walked on did I feel the eyes follow my steps
And my body pulled towards those eyes with an invisible rope
As each step turned to a mammoth effort did I turn
To gaze at those longing eyes for one last time
And I walk on to the land of no return.

But the thoughts overtook me and I contemplated
For days beyond our rendezvous
Sleep could I not, nor could I dine or pray for the sortilege
And every breath became a sustained torture
Frozen in all melancholy and nostalgia.

And for centuries that may I live
Shall the memories flush with all vigor and lushness
As I withhold this eternal beauty, forever young, forever untouched
Gazing though the veils of emotions
To grasp me in my youthful stride as my gray hairs have now come to mock.

Upon stargazing

I stretched out and reached the gazing stars beyond
I touched and felt the twinkle upon my palms
Radiant, soft and glowing with an eternal rhythm
They touch and go, touch and go
And when did I try to grasp the rebellious dazzle
Whimper did they as they freed from my hold.

Chiming of the unknown melodies far beyond
Did I try to grasp them again, but in vain
Never would I give up at their silent mutiny
For my aspirations are strong and my grasp is firm!
So I stretch out again with a renewed vigour
And did I find them extend in millions like petrels on the sea.

Perplexed at this eternal bounty and dazed upon my axiom
Which of these dazzling millions should I harness
As I behold this sight among the murmur of the fleeing winds.
Upon the firmament a silent game do I witness
A celestial parody of these immaculate species
Forever gleeful, forever baiting.

Far beyond my reach, far beyond the heavens
Far beyond the horizons and far beyond my faculties.
The premonition of an eternal failure dawned upon me
Lest should the memories return to torment
So great a spell to comprehend, so tranquil to admonish.

My lids closed and through the veil did I capture this sight
Of stars, dreams, and the gentle eternity of this night
The time moves on and I’m alone beneath their twinkle
As I pray to those gentle stars and say "I hope you’ll hear my plea"

A vanquished soldier in an eternal beauty as I settle upon the meadows,
Should the darkness have such a glow and a warmth so bold?
Noiseless do they settle upon my soul with a wild enchantment
The clear sky seems to glow with a knowledge that makes all whole
Petrified at this truth do I shrug and observe,
The stars fall one by one upon my wide open palm.

Notes:
I sent this poem out to my friends through e.mail and one of my friends, Stephan Melzer, composed a poem as a follow up and sent me his composition. Here it goes.

Glowing glimses of distant worlds
Glowing guests of ancient times
Can you ever understand, the wisdom brought at you in rhymes?

Voices from eternity
voices from deep outer space
whisper of mortality, of the evergoing pace

Lights distorted in their ways
Lights that where once bright as the sun
come here to your grace, when the source might long be gone

Stare into the stars my friend
See your own triviality
Grasp the chances at heavens end
Expand to immortality!
